Free SAIA webinar ‘Developing a Culturally Responsive Pedagogy’, 20 November

2 November 2020

Scottish Attachment In Action (SAIA) are running a free webinar open to parents, carers and practitioners, ‘Developing a Culturally Responsive Pedagogy’, on 20th November 2020.

It will be presented by Khadija Mohammed, Senior Lecturer and a Senior Fellow at the School of Education and Social Sciences, University of the West of Scotland.

The webinar will run via Zoom from 10:00am to 11:30am. Tickets are free but please register your place by emailing admin@saia.org.uk.

The session will focus on how to ‘acknowledge, nurture and celebrate the diverse, racialized identities of young people and their families’ within educational settings.

Both as a Teacher and Teacher Educator, Khadija looks to enthuse learners to participate as socially and morally responsible citizens. Her view is in order to do this we need to affirm personal and social backgrounds, in particular children from diverse cultural backgrounds.

A focus is also required on ways to encourage the recruitment of ethnic minorities into the 21st Century teaching profession and she is keen to work towards re-engaging classroom teachers in debate about their perceptions towards children from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds and their interactions with them.

More information can be found on the SAIA Event page or by downloading the flyer.
