What is the Trainer Practicum Process?

Certification Standards Notice

DDPI Worldwide Certification and Practicum requirements are governed by the DDPI Worldwide Regulations Governing the Use of DDPI Worldwide Certification Marks (Certification Rules). Where any summary information on this website differs from the formal Certification Rules, the Certification Rules prevail. Any approved amendments to practicum structures or certification requirements are implemented in accordance with the Certification Rules.

The next planned updates to practicum structures are scheduled to take effect on 1 January 2027. Until that date, current published requirements remain in force. Please get in touch if you have any questions.

Step 1. 28+ hours of assistance to Certified Trainer

You will need to assist a Certified Trainer in providing a DDPI approved DDP training over a minimum of 28 hours that covers all the required core training components.

Step 2. 28+ hours of co-training with Certified Trainer - 1st half of components

You will need to co-train, with the same Certified Trainer, a DDPI- approved training over a minimum of 28 hours that covers all of the core training components.

You will take the lead in presenting one half of the required core training components.

Step 3. 28 hours + of co-training with Certified Trainer - 2nd half of components

You will need to co-train, with the same Certified Trainer, a DDPI-approved training over a minimum of 28 hours that covers all of the required core training components.

You will take the lead in presenting the other half of the required core training components.

Please note

In an effort to increase fidelity to the DDPI approved DDP model it is a recommendation but not a requirement that you do at least one day of co-training with another Certified Trainer, in addition to the 56 hours of co-training with the Certified
 Trainer of your choice.

It is a requirement that you join a Certified Trainer on a Level Two training before you can provide a Level Two training.
