Training takes place on September 22 to 24, 28 and 29, 2026

This is an introductory 5-day online course on Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, an intervention model developed by Dan Hughes, Clinical Psychologist, USA.

This approach assists therapists and other professionals to understand and effectively support children, young people and their families. In this model, theory and research in the areas of developmental trauma, attachment theory, intersubjectivity and child development are integrated to produce a therapeutic approach used for relationship development and trauma resolution.  DDP recognises the vital role which adoptive parents, foster carers and residential workers play as primary attachment figures in the recovery of traumatised, attachment-resistant children.

The principles and interventions are presented through formal presentations, discussion, videotape of sessions, role-play, and hand outs.

Special Guest Session with Dan Hughes, Founder of DDP

Dan Hughes will be making a guest appearance during this DDP Level One Training, joining for a morning session to share his wisdom, insights, and vast experience. Hear first-hand reflections, drawn from decades of clinical practice and teaching, from the founder of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP).

Who is it For?

The training is relevant and open to therapists and practitioners who have experience in working with children and young people with trauma-attachment problems and their foster, adoptive or birth families.

It is running online with Dafna Lender, DDP Trainer, who is based in the US and timed for Central Daylight Time (CDT), daylight saving time in central North America. It is open to participants worldwide who can attend at these times, find out more.
