SUMMARY:Developing trust in children impacted by developmental trauma: Inte
grating Low Energy Neurofeedback (LENS) with DDP\, Jon Baylin & Sian Phill
 ips
DESCRIPTION:Jon Baylin and Sian Phillips discuss how DDP can change neural
networks in ways that promote the development of trust in children who hav
e been impacted by developmental trauma and in the parents and adults who
care for them. \nOver the past two years\, Sian has been integrating Low E
nergy Neurofeedback (LENS) into her work. DDP is necessary but not always
sufficient given the complexity of some of our families. Jon’s expertise
in neurobiology and Sian’s clinical experience are brought together to
discuss how LENS can relatively quickly organize neural networks in ways t
hat improve children and parent’s ability to make use of therapy and red
 uce automatic defensive responding.  \nWhat you’ll learn\n\nParticipant
s will learn how neural networks adapt to chronic stress and trauma and ho
w LENS can help those neural networks change from adaptive defensive behav
iour to more integrated coherent behaviour. \n\nWho is this for?\n\nThis
session is valuable for anyone interested in DDP\, neurobiology and neurof
eedback.\nAbout Dr. Jon Baylin\nDr. Baylin has been working for many years
on the goal of creating a neurobiological model of how DDP works. Current
ly he is using a model of developmental trauma based on the newer neurosci
ence of intrinsic brain networks. He has been teaching mental health profe
ssionals about the network model and how relational treatment and neuromod
ulatory procedures like low energy neurofeedback may help to reset brain n
etworks. Jon has been collaborating with Daniel Hughes for the last 15 yea
rs including co-authoring Brain-based Parenting and The Neurobiology of At
tachment-Focused Therapy. Jon has been developing a brain-based model of e
arly life adversity and attachment-focused treatment over the past 25 year
s and has been conducting trainings internationally on the theme of Puttin
g the Brain in Therapy for the past 10 years.\nAbout Dr. Sian Phillips\nSi
an is a psychologist and DDP Trainer who has been using DDP as a core way
of being for the last 20 years. Sian has trained and supervised many thera
pists and organizations to integrate DDP into their practice. She has work
ed with educators to create relational safety for students and started the
Belong classroom for children who cannot access regular education given t
heir developmental trauma and mistrust of adults. She has co-authored two
books and written three chapters outlining the benefit of DDP. More recent
ly Sian has integrated LENS into working with children and parents. This e
xciting way of working helps decrease defensiveness and re-organizes neura
l networks in ways that decrease symptoms of trauma and increase availabil
ity to relationships and engagement in various forms of therapy. Sian also
is integrating Deep Brain Reorienting for adults where trauma symptoms ar
e a function of shock deep in the brain stem.\nDDP in Focus: your professi
onal development program\nDDP in Focus is an online professional developme
nt and education program from DDPI Worldwide. Comprising workshops\, semin
ars and supervision sessions\, this series will help you develop and broad
en your cultural competency\, DDP skills and practice.\nMore details\nThis
