Dr Alicia Fairhurst is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). She has undertaken Theraplay Level One training.
Alicia has specialised in working with developmentally traumatised children, their families and professional networks including working with adopted families and children in the care system, in both NHS and local authority services for over 7 years. Alicia provides psychological assessments, therapeutic interventions, consultation to parents/ carers, social workers and teachers and training and supervision. Alicia has experience of training parents/carers in attachment, complex trauma and therapeutic parenting approaches and delivers DDP informed programmes including Nurturing Attachments and Foundations for Attachment.
Alicia has also trained social workers, social care staff and managers on the key principles of PACE, attachment and trauma-informed practice. Alicia has worked within a local authority to develop a DDP informed practice model; this service is the first Local Authority Children’s Looked After and Fostering Service to become a DDP Partner Organisation.
More recently Alicia has set up a small private practice in South West London (in addition to her NHS post) where she primarily works with adoptive families.
