Biography

I worked as a residential social worker for approximately 6 years in a number of children’s homes and specialist units before going University. I have a BA in applied social science and Social Work and after graduating spent 3 years training to be a play therapist. I worked in a women’s refuge and 2 different family centres before going to work as a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Therapist within the health service. I am registered with the both the HCPC and the British Association of Play Therapists.

I worked for a total of 13 years in the NHS mainly providing therapy, consultation and training within specialist services for looked after and adopted children both for the 'Thinking Allowed' service in Bristol and then within the 'Locate' service in Bath.

Since 2001, I have been regularly trained and supervised by Dan Hughes and am now certified as a Practitioner, Consultant and Trainer in DDP.

I now work independently full time. Services offered include supervision, therapy, consultation and training. I offer supervision as well as consultation to practitioners wishing to work towards their certification. I previously co-convened a DDP supervision group but more recently have set up and am co-facilitating DDP supervision days. I have provided training packages across the UK and I have therapy contracts with a number of local authorities working with adopted children and their parents. I co-facilitate a local adoption group and I am commissioned to provide therapeutic input for 14 hours a week to an independent fostering agency in Bristol.
