Practitioner becoming certified in DDP
Bob Bamman is a clinical Social Worker and a senior clinician at Rennicke Associates, New York, NY. Bob has worked for 15 years within the non-profit foster care, adoption, child and family services systems, and in private practice – providing clinical assistance (individual/family therapy, support groups, workshops) in the areas of infertility and alternative family building, foster care and adoption, post-adoption and open adoption life-cycle issues, parenting, child and adolescent therapy, trans-racial, and same-sex parenting. An adoptive parent himself, Bob’s therapeutic perspective is informed by an appreciation for the unique psycho-developmental challenges of the foster/adoptive experience, the amazing resilience of the young people and parents with whom he works, and the key role that the parent/caregiver plays in the healing process.
He is pleased to be pursuing full certification as a DDP practitioner and to be associated with colleagues who recognize the necessity of an attachment oriented treatment for adopted persons and families who are struggling. Within the DDP model, he utilizes an empathic, brain-based, and parent-centered perspective to assist young people and their parents in building the trust and connection that is the basis of a positive and rewarding family experience.
