| Biography | In my work as a Dramatherapist in private practice, I use attachment theory and the neurosequential model. These models feel crucial in framing my formulations and thinking when working with and supporting the incredible children I have been privileged to meet and who have often lived through sustained frightening experiences (Developmental Trauma). My work is also influenced by Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) which I frequently draw upon in therapeutic practice. My approach is playful and flexible, allowing people freedom to set their own pace to achieve confidence, happiness and empowerment. This is particularly helpful when working therapeutically with children who are dissociative and/or may present with a growing dissociative identity disorder (DID). I always bring integrity and my authentic self when highlighting the impact that race, culture and diversity can have with our clients. I am not fearful or avoidant of opening up or responding to conversations about these sensitive and painful areas in the workplace and in the therapeutic space. This is when I feel that DDP really comes into its own as it invites a PACEful, respectful approach to exploring uncomfortable, deep and meaningful conversations with sensitivity and care. |
