This is the first meeting of the DDP Interest Group for Professionals working with Adults with an Intellectual Disability. We are holding it online and I anticipate we will meet around 3 times per year but the group members will help shape the direction of the group and how often it meets.
The group aims to offer time for people to explore, consider, and share their experiences of using DDP based approaches when working with adults with an intellectual disability. In recognition that access to training in DDP in this field is very challenging the group will initially be open to all those with an interest in DDP based approaches.
It is likely the discussions will include time to think about opportunities, barriers for using DDP. I anticipate we will also consider service development, access to training, research and general peer support. Whilst the group context isn’t a substitute for peer supervision it is feasible it will allow us to share and consider DDP practice and case work.
