May 4th 2016 is the date of the next South West DDP Study Day in Taunton.
Kim Golding and Julie Hudson co-ran Study Days in Worcester six monthly for 7 years. There was a consistent high demand for places and from 2014, to make sure everyone can come to a DDP Study Day reasonably near to where they live, these days are now held in four different locations – Yorkshire/East Midlands, West Midlands, the South West and Scotland.
Kim Golding continues to run the Worcester Study Days. Vicky Sutton and Julie Hudson will run Study Days in the South West. Vicky Sutton is organising the South West Study day on 4th May 2016.

The Study Day will include opportunities for discussion about DDP as an intervention and DDP-related topics, updates on DDP in the UK and feedback about national developments, such as how the implementation of the Adoption Support Fund ( England) is going. There will be a special emphasis on Non Violent Resistance (NVR).
Non Violent Resistance (NVR)
Non Violent Resistance (NVR) is a new, innovative approach to dealing with aggressive, harmful and self-destructive behaviour. Deriving its methods from the principles of raising parental presence, de- escalation and reconciliation, NVR promotes constructive resistance to harmful behaviour, while seeking to support adults in reconnecting with their child and developing a non-punitive yet strong parental position.
NVR is a relational approach, which combines well with approaches like DDP. By working with and through the adults primarily, we can help young people overcome serious behavioural problems, even and especially when they themselves do not cooperate in the therapeutic process.
This brief workshop will give an insight into the underlying principles and philosophy of NVR, and introduce some of its core methods. It will also illustrate the specific child-focussed and trauma-focussed ways of working with NVR that have been developed by Peter Jakob
Keith Baker is a qualified Social Worker and Integrative Therapist. He has completed Level One DDP and the 10 day NVR certificate by Peter Jacobs.
Polly Nugent is a Clinical Psychologist and Practitioner becoming certified in DDP.
Cas Schneider is a Clinical Psychologist, DDP Practitioner, DDP Consultant and DDP Trainer.
