Specialist LAC Clinical Psychologist for East Midlands/Leicestershire

This is a unique opportunity to join a new and exciting therapeutic team in Horizon Care and Education Group; a specialist service providing residential care and education to children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties. We are looking for a creative and innovative Clinical Psychologist to join our Clinical team. This is a newly established team working to develop a comprehensive therapeutic service for children in our care. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the development of a new service. The Clinical team will specialise in providing regular psychological consultation and therapeutic training to residential and education staff across the organisation. This specialist team will also provide Clinical assessment of the young people in our care and therapeutic work where appropriate. We will also be developing our own specialist therapeutic training for our residential staff team to develop the necessary ‘therapeutic parenting’ skills in their work with children and young people. We will be developing a service rooted in attachment and trauma models and training staff to engage in using ‘therapeutic re-parenting’ approaches (PACE and DDP principles) and supported with regular consultation and supervision.

The post holder will be based in Leicestershire/East Midlands area. The clinician will also need to attend weekly team meetings at Head office in Cannock, Staffordshire and will also visit homes across their geographical patch. There will be opportunities to access regular professional development events and also regular clinical supervision. There will also be opportunities to be involved in developing teaching materials, evaluation tools and to be actively engaged in relevant Clinical research. We also encourage regular contact with local Clinical Psychology Doctoral Programmes and will offer specialist clinical placements to trainees.
