DDP trained facilitators (DDP Level One trained and above) wanted to run parenting groups for the DDP informed Nurturing Attachment Programme. Adoptionplus, recently awarded a government grant to support adopting families, will deliver the Programme in four geographical areas to support adopting parents to build positive and nurturing relationships with their children.
After a competitive application process, Adoptionplus, an adoption agency based near Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, was selected from a total of 463 nationally focussed bids that aim to make the biggest impact on children, young people and their families.
Joanne Alper, Director of Services, Adoptionplus Ltd commented: “We are delighted that the DFE are supporting us to deliver an exciting programme of Nurturing Attachment Groups for adopting parents. The programme, developed by Dr Kim Golding, will begin in September at four locations across Central and East England, including at our training centre in Moulsoe. We look forward to sharing the learning across the field about how such programmes can support adopted children and families. The events will be free for adoptive parents and we would encourage people to contact Adoptionplus if they would like to be involved in one of our groups.”
Adoptionplus will be shortly be recruiting for DDP trained facilitators and co-facilitators to run the groups. More details will follow on their website over the next few weeks. If you have completed DDP Level One and have group work experience, Joanne Alper would love to hear from you.
