New DDP Interest Groups starting this September

24 July 2023

Two new DDP Special Interest Groups are starting this September in the UK, one in Norwich, East Anglia and the other for professionals working with adults with an intellectual disability.

The new DDP Interest Group for East Anglia will be meeting on 14 September from 1pm to 3pm GMT. It will be a hybrid event where people are encouraged to join in-person in Norwich but can also join using Microsoft Teams if necessary.

It will be hosted by Dr Ben Gurney-Smith, Consultant in DDP, and Mark Marshall, DDP Practitioner in Training, and the meeting is open to all interested in DDP practice in all forms.

More information can be found on the event listing and you can register by emailing Mark at mark.marshall@cloverchildcareservices.co.uk.

Also meeting on 14 September is the DDP Interest Group for Professionals working with Adults with an Intellectual Disability.

It is facilitated by Nic Jones, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, DDP Consultant and Practitioner, and is going ahead online from 10am to 11:30am GMT.

The group aims to offer time for people to explore, consider, and share their experiences of using DDP based approaches when working with adults with an intellectual disability. In recognition that access to training in DDP in this field is very challenging the group will initially be open to all those with an interest in DDP based approaches.

Please contact Nic at dr.nic.jones@gmail.com to book your place and find out more, or you can visit the event listing.

DDP Connects UK supports both these events and all Special Interest Groups in the UK and Ireland.

The group for Professionals working with Adults with an Intellectual Disability joins a number new specialist occupational groups to have started over the past 12 months.

They are Professionals Working In Residential Settings (capped) DDP Interest Group, Infant Mental Health DDP Interest Group, New Forest DDP Interest Group for Professionals who support Residential Staff Teams and the DDP Interest Group for Residential Children’s Home Managers and Leaders.

If you have an idea for a new DDP Interest Group the DDPI Community Development Committee would love to hear from you. Please get in touch using the DDP Network contact page.
