Biography

Julie, a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, left the NHS in April 2013 after working for 30 years in NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). Julie developed and managed LOCATE for 10 years, a joint-funded specialist CAMHS providing assessment, consultative and therapeutic services to children in care and adopted children, their families and networks. Julie is a trainer, consultant and practitioner in DDP and now works independently focusing on training, supervision and consultation to local authorities, health services, independent agencies and individuals across the UK.

She contributed a chapter on the provision of psychological support services to adoptive families in “Thinking Psychologically about Looked After and adopted children”, Kim Golding et al Wiley 2006. She is co-author with Dan Hughes and Kim Golding of ‘Healing Relational Trauma with Attachment-Focused Interventions. Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy with children and Families’. W. W. Norton, published in 2019.

Julie is a past member of the board of directors for the Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Training Institute (DDPI) and is one of the founding directors and treasurer of DDP Connects UK (CIC), a ‘not-for-profit’ community interest company incorporated in the UK in April 2017.
