Practitioner becoming certified in DDP
Ruth is a HCPC registered social worker, qualified to masters level. She is working towards accreditation as a DDP Practitioner and draws heavily on this approach in her work. Ruth is also trained to Level Two in Theraplay® and has achieved Foundational Practitioner status on the Theraplay® practicum. She is now working towards becoming an Intermediate level Theraplay® practitioner.
Ruth is an experienced practitioner who has worked in a therapeutic setting since 2003. She previously worked for a voluntary agency and now works independently. Ruth specialises in working therapeutically with looked after or adopted children and their foster carers or adoptive parents.
Ruth is passionate about supporting parents and carers, to develop resilience and skills in caring therapeutically for children who have experienced complex trauma. Ruth believes in the benefits of working jointly with children and their carers, to strengthen family relationships and help children recover from early trauma.
Ruth has undertaken extensive additional training in attachment, trauma and therapeutic parenting. She has been trained by Kim Golding in her ‘Foundations for Attachment’ and ‘Nurturing Attachments’ groupwork programmes and facilitates these groups regularly. Ruth also delivers consultation and training to multi-agency professionals.
