Practitioner becoming certified in DDP
BA Hons Counselling Studies, Dip. Person Centered Counselling & Therapy
Sarah comes from a therapeutic background and combines the person centred approach with a knowledge of attachment theory and developmental trauma. She has run a private practice since qualifying in 2009 working with adults experiencing a variety of emotional difficulties and prior to that had a successful career in PR and Marketing in London.
In 2014 funding became available for Sarah to set up a new service for a local children’s charity – supporting parents whose children had been linked to or had experienced Domestic Abuse. She ran the county wide service for over 4 years and personally supported over 200 parents – informing them about the effects of trauma and encouraging a therapeutic parenting approach. A smaller amount of parents were able to benefit from dyadic work with their children and Sarah also ran groups using Kim Golding’s Foundations For Attachment programme.
Sarah continues to work privately and for Clear, alongside the NHS and Cornwall Council, and is passionate about helping parents/carers understand their children’s emotional life and behaviour using the principles of DDP/PACE. She feels her therapeutic background perfectly compliments the approach – enabling her to support, empathise and empower in a non-judgemental, accepting and open way.
