Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP)

International Advances in Research and Clinical Practice

After two successful USA DDP 3-day international conferences organised by Dan Hughes in Annville, Pennsylvania, in 2014 the venue is moving to Canada. The Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Institute will be hosting their International Conference in Kingston, Ontario this year. Affectionately known as the Limestone City, Kingston is a beautifully historic city on the shore of Lake Ontario. This is the first time the DDPI International Conference has been held in Canada.

A group of international speakers with leading expertise in trauma, attachment and brain development will be on hand to present. There will be a variety of workshops that will appeal to all professionals who work with families/children with attachment and trauma issues.

Topics include:

  • Current research pertaining to interpersonal neurobiology as it relates to DDP and Attachment Focused Family Therapy
  • The neurobiology of blocked care in parents working with challenging children.
  • DDP in schools
  • DDP in residential settings
  • Pharmacology and complex developmental trauma
  • Sue Johnson’s Emotion Focused Therapy
  • Clinical examples of work from therapists in UK, USA and Canada
  • The art of story telling

This conference is an excellent opportunity for those certified in DDP to present their work, collaborate with colleagues and be informed about how DDP is developing internationally. It is also an opportunity for professionals and educators who are interested in learning more about how DDP is an effective way of working with children and families who have experienced interpersonal trauma.

Our program starts at noon on Monday, October 6 and will end at 4:30 on Wednesday October 8. Continuing education credits are available for psychologists, social workers.

As well as clinicians from North America and UK presenting clinical and program initiatives.

Some accommodations are available at the conference site. Each room is ideal for only 1 person as each has one double bed.
