Claire is an experienced, registered Social Worker who works therapeutically with children and families across the North East and Yorkshire. She conducts multi-disciplinary specialist assessments, provides holistic support to families and engages professionals in therapeutic consultations. Claire is a qualified DDP practitioner and accredited PACE trainer who co-facilitates the North Yorkshire and Tees Valley DDP Special Interest Group. Claire is also a Senior Lecturer and researcher, designing and delivering a range of evidence-based training courses for students, professionals and families. Throughout her 20+ year career in social care, Claire has worked across the UK, India, Tanzania, Romania and Bulgaria supporting children who have experienced abuse and neglect to develop and maintain positive relationships.

Though Claire’s therapeutic sessions tend to be locally based now due to caring for her two little ones, she collaborates internationally on research projects and serves as co-chair of the DDP research committee. Claire is passionate about using DDP with children and parents/carers brought together by adoption, fostering and special guardianship, as well as for young people living in residential homes. She also utilises a range of other approaches such as Intensive Interaction, mindfulness and yoga, gentle sleep coaching, forest schools, creative and play-based work.
